Hi Stampers

We got to sleep in a little today.    After a leisurely breakfast we met in the lobby of the hotel at 9:30am to meeting our guide Christine for  a trip to Grasse – the capital of French Perfume making.     Destination – Parfumerie Fragonard to learn the techniques involved in creating a signature perfume.

We also toured the Museum of Perfumes and the Costume Museum – of course after doing a little fragrance shopping.

On to Antibes.   Our first stop – Lunch.    We all split up and Christine (our French Guide), Patricia, Lori, Judy and I headed to Le Brulot for lunch.      (Aren’t you loving the food pictures?)

Lunch in Antibes

Patricia Sands, Author of The Promise of Provence then showed us “her” Antibes.     Doing a home exchange, she spent a lot of time in Antibes.       She was able to show us some spots that “inspired” parts of the book. where the characters lived, shopped and fell in love.     Can’t wait for the sequel.

Here is Patricia at Heidi’s English Bookshop in Antibes holding The Promise of Provence.

While some of the group toured the Musee Picasso, the rest of us walked around Antibes.      (I stole the picture below from Patricia).

We then went up to Cap d’Antibes for an amazing view.    That is Christine our French Guide, Lori and Mary.

Dinner this evening was at Le Tire Bouchon.      I could tell you that they were arrested….but the restaurant was in a side alley and we were inside looking out when they walked by.

Nice, Le Tire Bouchon

Probably the BEST salad ever eaten.     It was melon, prosciutto and fresh parmesan.   Delicious!!!!    Entree was a Risotto dish.

Nice, Le Tire Bouchon

I can’t believe that we head to Avignon tomorrow.     I loved Nice.   It was full of life.   Everywhere you looked there were Cafes and Restaurants …. and they were packed.     It helped that the World Cup Soccer was going on (and France was still in the running), the Ironman Competition was happening and they were setting up for the Jazz Festival.     It is an easy city to navigate and so much to do.    I would definitely put this on my bucket list to visit again.     Besides… I didn’t get to put my feet into the water… and you know that is a must. 🙂
