Baptism Card – 6 hours later

By | April 18, 2009

I had bought the Cricut Design Studio Software before Christmas but had never used it. So today when I was thinking of a card to make for my Great Nephew’s Baptism I thought I would pull it out. It took me all “bleeping” day to do this. Every time I tried to make a cut I would get a pop-up message that the Firmware needed to be updated. So I would update the firmware and make a cut. Of course I was trying different sizes, tried to make a smaller version to fit inside to cover the brads, etc. So there were a lot of Firmware updates!! Then I wanted to “try” the center cut, so I used my computer to do the sentiment then centered the blade, hit center cut and the dang thing would cut somewhere totally different. I finally gave up on the center cut but swear I am going to master the Cricut Design Studio and Expression.

Bottom line – I finished the Baptism card 6 hours later – YES this little thing took 6 hours. Looking at it, I think the ribbon needs to be lower but I don’t want to fiddle with it anymore. I figure 6 hours is enough on one card.

Have a good one.

This is great and was totally worth your 6 hours! Ah, I have a bug as well and I know what you mean about the updates. I forget to check for them and when I do, I need to update about 50! Then forgetting the firmware is a nightmare. Works totally well when it is all up to snuff!

At least you can take consolation in the fact you made an AMAZING card and I’m sure it will go into a scrap/baby book to be cherished for years to come. Be sure to put the Cricut into the corner for its bad behavior 🙂

Oh I love this cutie! So sorry it took so much time… I know how frustrating that is… but it is a wonderful card and will be so appreciated! I have been debating about the Cricut and now I’m thinking I don’t have time to figure out another labor intensive thing!!! LOL! I’ve been gone for a week and am totally exhausted… but hope to be back at creating soon! Have a great night!

Elizabeth you did a fabulous job on this card. It is precious! I understand your frustration w/DSS too. I have done the same thing spending hours to get a simple cut. However, I truly love my Cricut & the DSS too.

Sorry you had some much trouble, I would have given up a lot soon than that. Great card though, it’s so pretty.

It’s a totally adorable card, so your hard work was all worth it.
I’ve been thinking about a Cricut for some time now – but now I’m thinking I might not need it at all!
