Hi Stampers
Back with another episode of the Greek Isles Incentive Trip. Today is July 4th and we are on a bit of an adventure. We are heading to Positano. It is a guided tour and includes a high speed train to Naples, bus to Positano, boat to Amalfi, boat to Salerno and high speed train back to Rome. In between there was some shopping, food, Aperol Spriz’, hike up to a lemon farm, Lemoncello, more Aperol Spritz, lots of walking and heat!
We met our tour guide and other travellers at the Train Station at 7:15 am. There were 15 of us on the tour, nice and small and a great opportunity to get to know each other. The high speed train to Naples took about 1 1/2 hours and before you knew it we were on the small bus to Positano. The sun is shining and it is a gorgeous ride along the coast. It is not an intimidating ride, but then we weren’t driving. Once in Positano, we had a few hours to wander around, do some shopping, put our feet into the Mediterranean and have lunch by the beach.
Positano
Amalfi
We took the boat from Positano over to Amalfi. Once there we “hiked” up into a lemon orchard. When I say hike… it was 300 steps straight up the hill. Did I tell you that it was HOT! What sold me on this tour was the hike up to the lemon orchard and having some fresh lemoncello. In hindsight, not so sure the vision lived up to reality, but we were glad we did it.
This isn’t even the start of the hike and I am HOT!
We took the boat from Amalfi to Salerno. This was to avoid the roads between the towns and to catch the high speed train back to Rome. The only hiccup in the whole trip was once we got back to Rome. We had to wait almost an hour for a taxi back to the hotel. Putin was in town and the roads were all blocked around our hotel.
A shower, change of clothes and dinner at a cafe near the Hotel and to watch the laser light show at the Temple of Hadrian.
Last but not least, a night cap at the rooftop bar at the hotel, for…. you guessed it… and Aperol Spritz.
Tomorrow is another full day.
