Top of the morning all. On this day we are all a wee bit Irish. I was able to trace my GG Grandfather to Tipperary (b.1828). I have hit a bit of a wall but that is not uncommon when tracing your family tree in Ireland. I enjoy the search and finding out about your past / history, digging up paperwork and making connections with unknown relatives. The search continues.
I have two pieces of inspiration for you today.
Many years ago, one of my New Year’s resolutions was to adopt a Seniors Residence. For each occasion I made (or purchased) each of the residents something. It wasn’t anything elaborate, chocolates for Valentines Day, Decorative Eggs for Easter, Carnations for Mother’s Day, etc. For St. Paddy’s day that year, I took a bushel basket and spray painted it gold then decorated it. I bought chocolate coins (the kind wrapped in gold to look like $$$) and wrapped them in green tulle and added a Leprechaun Kisses Poem. This is a great idea for a class or large group. There are loads of different poems out there, I used:
Here’s a wee present for you
Full of luck and good wishes
Celebrate this St. Patrick’s Day
With these Leprechaun Kisses!
It was so festive looking when I was done that I had to take pictures of it. Of course the Residents of the Seniors Home enjoyed it…. all 113 of them! Note.. if this is something you would like to do, call a local Seniors Home and ask for the Activity Co-ordinator. Let them know what you would like to do and they will work with you. You have to consider dietary restrictions of some of the residents.
The second picture is one I took from Blarney Castle. Oh… yes and I kissed it. Germs and all. Within two days I was as sick as a dog… probably the worst cold I ever had and it continued for the rest of my trip, Ireland, then to Scotland, touring down to the Mull of Kintyre and home. I was home for a few days before I got my hearing back – flying while congested is not enjoyable. But… we had an amazing trip…. cold and all.
Tomorrow I will be showing the 3rd card we made at Club on Saturday. It was a super easy card (unlike the other two… right ladies :))
