Hi Stampers.
I have a Silhouette machine that most times sits unused and dusty. This past weekend I had some “me” time and wanted to play with it. I found a Wedding card online that I loved and wanted to recreate it using Stampin’ Up! product.
I downloaded the image and played with different retired Designer Series Paper (trying to use up old stock). The cards were nice but they were missing something. I brought out some Silver Glimmer paper and used that for the dress overlay and what can I say… WOW! What a difference when you hit the right combination. I don’t have any of the Dazzling Diamond paper on hand, but I want to try it with that as well to see the effect. As of now the Silver Glimmer wins. At first the silver sparkles were flaking when I cut the image, but I brushed the card with a soft paintbrush and it seems to have removed the loose sparkles.
So here is the comparison of the 4 cards. Sometimes people think that the first card I make is perfect. Little do they know that I often go through a few variations before I show them the final card. Come on… we don’t want everyone to see our mistakes do we.
The first one used a brown/gold tone on tone paper. Eh!
The second card used a black tone on tone “flocked” paper. I disliked this the most. The flocking ended up making the white paper look dirty in spots.
OK… now we are getting close. I had some Black Glimmer Paper left over from last fall and I thought this would be a great way to use it up. Not bad.
But then…. I brought out the Silver Glimmer Paper and thought I would give it a shot. Wowzer. Loved how it turned out. I finished off the necklace with a Swarovski Hot Fix Crystal. Love it!. I learned something with the Silhouette though. It scores the fold lines with a bit of perforation. I am going to remove the score lines and do them manually on the Scoreboard. I found the score lines end up tearing through after a few times opening up the card.
So tell me your thoughts? Which of the 4 cards do you prefer?
