Hi Stampers, thanks for checking in today.
This will be a non stamping post but for a very good reason. For the past few months, I have been organizing (with help from a friend and co-worker), an Open House event at work for families and friends. And you know how these things go…. as the date gets closer, it is crunch time. For the last 3 weeks, I haven’t had a lot of time to focus on stamping. One of the benefits of Stampin’ Up!…. I can step back once in a while when life gets busy.
Saturdays, Sundays and evenings after work were spent shopping, organizing, prepping, and putting the final touches on everything from registration, decorations, treat packaging, food, volunteer details, what displays would be seen…. everything.
I am happy to report, that it was an astounding success. My feet have blisters, are swollen, and I need sleep, but it was well worth it. 1,200 folks that came through the doors and were very happy with the event.
Some photos from the night before and the big day. We brought out the Rovers and folks had a chance to maneuver one through an obstacle course (the Rovers are always a hit), had a photo opportunity in the Production Area with the arm, a visit to the simulation facility, and the hit was the Virtual Reality area. One of the VR experiences you got to stand on the end of the Canadarm and float in space with the Astronauts (real video taken from a camera on the end of the arm..it is incredible). It was all topped off with refreshments and a colouring “station” (get it), for the children.
This will be the last Open House we have at this location. Next year we are scheduled to move to a new purpose-built facility.
Back to stamping next weekend. I have a Super Team Event (love these day long Team events), and I am putting the final touches on the Taco Fiesta class. All of the items have been received and I just need to package everything up. I will be sending out the Pick up information to the attendees this week for the class on May 27th… I can’t believe I am that organized!
There may be a vacation day in my future…. but I have to get caught up with the work on my desk that I have ignored for the past week. For now, laundry is done and I am heading to bed.
