You would think that missing for a week I would have lots to report. Afraid not. Work and life got in the way of blogging and “carding” (is that a word?). I actually got de-motivated with all the special orders and had to take a break. I make cards (mostly) because I love it – but sometimes when you are under the gun to get things done it takes the pleasure out of it.
Many years ago I use to have a booth at a Consignment Store (Crafter’s Marketplace – don’t know if they are still around). It was general crafts, dolls, wreaths, stitched crafts, etc. I did very well, but when I ended up bringing my nieces over to stay for a weekend and do “production line assembly” I realized there was no more joy in doing it and when my rental agreement was up I left. At least with Stampin Up – you can take a break whenever you want – there is no six month contract to sign.
Tonight I “forced” myself to stay up and make some cards. One of the good things about Stampin Up’s Demo site are the samples. I made a set tonight (thanks to Melissa Stout for the design). This is the first card in the set. I will post the other three cards and box over the next week. I am also thinking about doing this as a class. If you are local stay tuned. I was very happy with the set. The box is adorable.
Did you watch Idol. I think Adam is going to win but I think he is more suited to the theatre. I still like Kris Allen the bestest and he is a cutie.
And speaking of Reality TV – did you see the Apprentice on Sunday night. Whoa – what was that all about. I don’t think Melissa should have been fired but she kind of went nutso – then her mother quit. Talk about drama!
Have a good one.

This card is gorgeous! I love the colors together!
Spoiler alert! We apparently get that episode of the Apprentice this weekend! I did not realize we were that far behind you guys! LOL I will have to be sure to watch it. As if I do anything else on Sunday night…
Those are pretty colors in combination, and I do like those scalloped stamps SU has out right now.
I have friends who are very quick about making their cards and they often get orders, and I’ve been envious that no one ever has offered to buy anything I’ve made. Yet, then I sit and remember how much I detest assembly line production of things and that making even ten of the same card for a swap bugs me! So I think I’m better off plodding along making one at a time when the mood hits. I think that card is very pretty.
I’m glad you got back into the swing of things. I’ve been in the same funk the past few weeks – work has been extra hectic, so my mojo isn’t always flowing when I do have ‘down’ time. A weekend get together with fellow SCSers really helped me 🙂
I couldn’t get over the Rivers craziness on the Apprentice either!! Wonder if Joan will be back next week – I bet (anything for ratings 😉
Oh I do love this card! Love the colors and layout! Love the two different ovals for the sentiment! I wish non demos could see the samples too! Great ideas! Can’t wait to see the rest! I know what you mean about getting burned out. Sometimes you just need to take a break! Keep it fun!
