Note to self…. if you buy an external hard drive make sure you back up on a regular basis.
Before I get into the computer stuff – I spent a good chunk of the day at the Hospital downtown visiting with my sister’s MIL. She is in good spirits but I am sure the cast weighs more than she does. It goes from her ankle to the top of her thigh. They were going to operate but hadn’t been able to fit her in yet (at least before I left).
So.. I decided to deal with my computer issues once I got home. I have an old desktop (yes what I am using now) and then my laptop. My laptop has absolutely my world on it. I finally bought an external hard drive on May 31st and yes folks that was the last time I backed it up. I just got off the phone with Dell (that is a whole other story!) who informed me that we will need to do a complete system install which means that I am going to loose everything on my laptop. Luckily I was able to still see the pictures so I am busy copying the 5,627 images from my laptop to the external hard drive. Right now what I am stressing over is all the Family Research information I had on my desk top. Hopefully most of it will be on the External Hard Drive.
Wish me luck.

Bless your heart! This happened to us with a 3 week old computer…right after we can completely cleared out our old one. Lost everything…all gone…forever. I lost my work stuff, resumes, CV’s, projects, grants…I am still sick over it. I hope you get it resolved soon!
Oh I am so sorry. I had computer issues earlier in the year and ended up using a lot of stuff. Hopefully everything will get straightened out soon.
Oh I am so sorry, my life is on my computer too. I don’t think I’ve backed up anything since . . . I bought my computer? Bad me. Yikes, what a story, again, sorry and I hope your sister’s MIL feels better soon.
Elizabeth…really, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know how upsetting that would be for me…so I’ll be praying that somehow you can restore what was lost. Hearing from you and Grace is making me nervous. Think I’ll go back everything up right now!! Hope this has a positive resolution and soon.
AND…your last two cards are fabulous. Love them both.
Oh Elizabeth I can sooooo identify with you! My laptop which is my only computer crashed yesterday and to fix it was almost as much as a new one so I got the new one but I have spent all day loading programs I had on the other one, making back up discs and I’m so worried about getting my pictures and documents off the old one. It’s not clear yet whether I can or not. Most of my photos were backed up but all the tax info for years past, all my documents… and I can’t even begin to think what I might have lost. So… we are struggling through the same things this weekend! I will be thinking of you! Hope you can get it all back!!! Hugs!
