Thinking “outside the box”

Hello Stampers

Yesterday was Club day for the Saturday Morning Stampers.    I have said it before… and I will say it again…. I love my Club days.    What a great group of ladies….. and one little man…. even if he is only 6 weeks old:)

I encourage everyone to bring projects they have worked on or are working on for “show and tell”.   It has become a ritual… as coffee is being made their projects are getting passed around so everyone can ooooh and ahhhhhh.       My longest running Club member (Anne H) has been in the Club since Day 1 (2009) and said when she first started she never thought she would be able to think “outside the box”.     How she has grown on her stamping, imagination and creativity.     Check out this page she created to insert into an Advent calendar.       I want to focus on the background, snowy sky and how she created it.   (I love the Santa and Reindeer but it is non SU).   (Apologies for the blurry picture… promise.. I wasn’t drinking)

Advent Calendar Insert

Using a sheet of water colour paper cut to the size of the insert, she punched a circle and temporarily glued it to the top right hand corner.    Then she sponged 3 different colours of blue all over the page.      She wanted a snowy sky and looked at the stamp sets she had on hand and decided to use the Glorious Grunge (one of my fav sets).     Using Versamark she randomly stamped the small grunge dots all over the page.    She then embossed with white embossing powder.   Tah Dah…. you have yourself a snowy looking sky.   Take off the circle at the top and you have a night time moon.      Now that is thinking “outside the box”.

Anne… It has inspired me… I think we will be doing this technique at an upcoming club when we use one of the new stamp sets / framelits that will be in the Holiday Catalogue.
